Lombao Vázquez, Diego
Graduated in History in the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in 2014. I obtained the Master’s degree the in Quaternary Archaeology and Human Evolution in the Universitat of Rovira i Virgili in 2016.
My main research interest is the evolution of the cognitive abilities of the hominins of Early and Middle Pleistocene through the study of lithic assemblages. I collaborate with several research projects and archaeological fieldworks such as Sierra de Atapuerca and Barranc de la Boella.
Now I am the beneficiary of a Predoctoral Fellowship (FI-AGAUR-2018) with the financial sponsorship of the Generalitat de Catalunya. My PhD. is focused on the study of the volumetric management in lithic knapping as a proxy of cognitive evolution in the Early and Middle Pleistocene with special emphasis on the analysis of lithic production strategies to understand the techno-cultural changes in Mode 1-Mode 2 industries.
My additional research interests concern experimental archaeology to develop methods to investigate the relationship between social transmission, learning and lithic knapping.
