I graduated (BSc + MSc) in biological sciences at the University of Barcelona (UB). Later on, I coursed a doctoral programme on the sedimentary record and palaeoenvironmental evolution at the Stratigraphy & Palaeontology Department of UB. Then, I was granted with a pre-doctorate fellowship in order to research at the Prehistory Area of Rovira i Virgili University (URV). I earned my PhD degree from URV with a thesis on the morphology of mammalian erythrocytes in bloodstains on lithic raw materials of interest to prehistoric technology.
My field of expertise is the scanning electron microscopy of bloodstains (haemotaphonomy), a subject in which forensic biology and prehistoric archaeology overlap.
Besides my main activity as a researcher, I have taught URV postgraduate-level courses on human palaeoecology, molecular archaeology, and epistemology.
