Archaeobotany
The Archaeobotany Unit’s facilities include a 90 m2 laboratory containing the equipment and materials needed for the processing and mounting of palynological and phytolith samples.
Biomarkers
The aim of the lab is to provide high-resolution data about the life history of animal populations from archaeological and paleontological assemblages.
Collections Service
The Collections Service aims to correctly preserve the archaeological and palaeontological materials temporarily stored at the centre until they return to the institution to which they belong.
Conservation
The laboratory occupies an area of 100 m2 designed to perform the different interventions on conservation.
Geoarchaeology
This facility has been set up to prepare the thin sections of rocks and sediments required to conduct the Institute’s archaeological research.
Information Systems in Archaeology
The Unit applies information and communication technologies to archaeological research and manages clustered computing equipment for the management and analysis of data sets.
Large Research Equipment
The IPHES is located opposite the URV Scientific and Technical Resources building. As a university institute, our researchers can take full advantage of the URV's analytical equipment.
Lithic Technology
The large lithic laboratory is situated in the bottom floor of the IPHES and is divided into two areas. The first one comprises a 43 m2 fully equipped microscope area with low to high power approach microscopes; two USB microscopes: PCE-MM200 y Dino-lite, two stereomicroscopes: Olympus SZ11 y Euromex DZ1; one metallographic: ZEISS Aixoscope A1, one 3D digital: Hirox KH8700, and one 3D optical profilometer that combines three measuring techniques in one (confocal, interferometry and focus variation): Sensofar S Neox.
